Come gather with us in the old packing shed and enjoy music, refreshments, and fellowship as the Riley family – along with a slew of guest singers and musicians – lead the assembly in traditional gospel music. Admission is free; a love offering will be taken. Requests are welcome, so dust off your old hymnals and tote 'em along!

Hometown Jamboree - 6PM

On the first Saturday of each month (from May to November), Riley's at Los Rios Rancho puts on an old-time music variety show, just like those great old radio and t.v. shows of the 40s and 50s. There’s one difference — we throw in a hearty family-style dinner to boot!

At the Hometown Jamboree, families can tuck into a tasty meal and enjoy a hand-clappin’, knee-slappin’, toe-tappin’ good time as Riley’s Mountaineers and special guest performers pick, fiddle and sing their favorite oldtime bluegrass, western, and gospel tunes, as well as a few surprises along the way.

Guest musicians are always welcome to tote along an instrument or two and join in the freewheeling jam after the show. You never know who’ll turn up, or what you’ll hear next.

Come on up for some chicken and pickin’! At our reasonable adult and kid prices, it’s the best meal – and deal – around. Dinner  at 6PM.  Show following.   Here are the dates:

Apple Butter Festival

Pioneer families made a custom of gathering together in late fall to cook up apple butter from the last apples of the season. It was a practical way to preserve the apples throughout the year and a pleasurable way to preserve community spirit.

Our annual Thanksgiving weekend Apple Butter Festival celebrates this fine old tradition, and we invite families to come up and share in it. We’ll have a hands-on demonstration of apple butter making the old-time (and slow!) way - outdoors in a big copper kettle. Come learn how to “start the snitz” and “add the money”, plus enjoy pioneer crafts and games, music, carriage rides, and lots more.

At day’s end on Saturday we'll cap off the evening just like our ancestors did - with a good old-fashioned hoedown, featuring music by Riley's Mountaineers.

Admission to the Festival is free; there are small fees for some activities. Apple Butter Hoedown admission includes the pumpkin stew, served up in large Cinderella pumpkins.

Currier & Ives Dinner

Come help us celebrate the Christmas season in classic country fashion! We'll be singing, dancing, and enjoying the chilly winter evening as we gather 'round the warm hearth for a holiday feast. So, don your country best and join us for a night of family fun you'll remember always.

You and your family will arrive to appetizers & hot cider and see the splendor of our barn all decked out in her Christmas finest. Riley's Mountaineers will sing some of those good old Country Christmas tunes as you dine on baked ham, homemade chicken pot pie, fresh green beans, dutch oven potatoes, gravy, fresh bread, and bread pudding with rum sauce for dessert. Next, we'll all sing along to the carols of Christmas as we roast chestnuts by the fire. Then we'll follow Pa Riley's lead in Christmas set dances 'round the Christmas tree!

Sold Out for 2012

Cowboy Chuckwagon Supper & Show

Each August, we celebrate the cowboy tradition with our Cowboy Chuckwagon Supper and Show. Supper's served fresh off the tailgate of our 1880s Studebaker chuckwagon, and includes tasty BBQ prime steak, baked ‘tater, trail beans, and sourdough biscuits, washed down with lemonade, iced tea, or campfire coffee. For dessert, there's Dutch oven cobbler.

"Riley's Regulators" (our own Riley's Mountaineers, cowboyed up for the occasion) keep things lively with traditional and classic cowboy tunes. Adventurous guests can try their hands at roping, branding, or saddling. The less adventurous can take a turn cranking the ice cream freezer or the coffee grinder.

Tickets for adults and kids will be available online. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner's served at 7 p.m.

Contra Dance
A Harvest Production Event

It's a mixture of square dancing and the Virgina Reel. People dance in long lines, couples facing couples across the set. Beginners should come in at 6:30 for basic instruction.

Dennis Riley calls the figures to some of the best New England style dance music you'll ever hear - on C.D. Most of the dances include a walk-thru, so don't be afraid - it's easy. Young children will find this style of dancing a little too advanced so you might want to find a baby-sitter for them. There are lots of teens and college students - along with parents.

Tickets are sold at the door or you can call Sharon Riley for advance tickets.

Contar Dances are the forth Friday of each month.   Jan-Nov   $10.00 per person.
Enrolled college students: $7.
